Abortion access restrictions

Multiple bills were introduced in the 2026 NH legislative session attempting to ban or further restrict abortion access and, according to advocates, stigmatize patients. Planned Parenthood New Hampshire Action Fund tracked these legislative efforts as a primary concern for the state heading into the 2026 elections. New Hampshire has historically had more permissive abortion laws relative to other New England neighbors, but recent legislative activity reflects national pressure to tighten restrictions.

With the 2026 elections fast approaching, elected officials will almost surely try to use the same issues to pit us against each other.
Positions on this issue  ยท  liberal → conservative
  1. Repeal all existing abortion restrictions and codify a full right to abortion access in New Hampshire law.
  2. Reject any new restrictions and strengthen legal protections for abortion providers and patients in NH.
  3. Maintain current NH abortion law without further restrictions or expansions.
  4. Support modest additional restrictions such as expanded waiting periods or updated informed consent requirements.
  5. Ban abortion except in very limited circumstances such as life of the mother, aligning NH with stricter state laws.
