Growth, land use and green space

Land use has become a top-of-mind issue across Northern Kentucky's county commissioner races. Green-space and environmental organizations hosted the candidate forum, and candidates argued the region is now a crossroads of industry, farmland and suburbs that must be represented in land decisions.

We are not just industry, we are not just farmland... we are now just the crossroads between all of these different areas and we need to represent that.
Positions on this issue  ยท  liberal → conservative
  1. Strictly limit new development to protect farmland, parks and green space from sprawl.
  2. Require green-space set-asides and environmental review as conditions of new development.
  3. Guide growth with balanced planning that preserves some open land while allowing development.
  4. Streamline approvals and let property owners develop their land with minimal restrictions.
  5. Remove zoning obstacles and let the market decide where growth happens.
