My Values:
I never thought I would see the day when an activist Supreme Court majority rolled back 50 years of legal precedent, stripping millions of American women of their fundamental rights, but that day has come. The conservative Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade allowed states to make laws banning abortions, even in cases of rape and incest. This is not who we are. The decision about whether and when to start a family is between a woman, her family, her doctor, and her faith – not governments or politicians. I will not stop fighting until every woman’s fundamental right to control her own body is protected and Roe is restored.

What I’ve Done:
I voted to codify Roe v. Wade at the federal level to protect and restore the right to choose.

I helped pass the Ensuring Access to Abortion Act to protect the right to travel for abortion care.

My Values:
I grew up in a farm family – my grandfather was a farm foreman until the 80s farm crisis forced him off the farm. Now I’m a member of the House Agriculture Committee, one of the last truly bipartisan committees in Congress, and I’m working every day to ensure the Minnesota family farmers and rural communities who feed, clothe and fuel America have a seat at the table.

What I’ve Done:
I wrote the bill to allow year-round sales of E-15 fuel and got it passed through the House for the first time ever.

I voted to provide significant additional funding for voluntary conservation programs designed to increase agriculture’s role in the fight against climate change.

When the trade war with China was hurting Minnesota farmers, I worked to stabilize North American markets by helping to finalize the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement.

I’m working across the aisle to pass my bill that would create a White House Office of Rural Prosperity –– a permanent office dedicated to rural economic development and success.

I voted to provide more than $100 million for broadband expansion in Minnesota, and I brought home more than $7 million to the 2nd Congressional District to expand rural broadband and internet access.

My Values:
I’m the daughter of a teacher, the proud wife of an educator and a mother of four sons. I know firsthand the importance of a great education for all students. That means fully funding our public schools and giving students a range of opportunities after they graduate high school, including career skills, technical education and apprenticeship programs. It’s our job to build the skilled workforce we need to compete on the global stage and build a strong domestic economy, and I’ll keep working to ensure every student in Minnesota has the resources to succeed.

What I’ve Done
I wrote and introduced the 21st Century Workforce Partnerships Act to provide hands-on training for students with local employers and schools.

I supported increasing Federal Pell Grants and additional investments in our two-year and community colleges.

I helped introduce the Remedial Education Improvement Act to create a grant program allowing federal student aid money to support up to two years of developmental education, making post-secondary education more affordable and accessible.

I’ve been a longtime proponent of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), and fought to ensure special education programs across our district are fully funded.

My Values:

Climate change deeply impacts our environment and our economy here in Minnesota, and that’s why I’ve supported bold action to strengthen our renewable energy sources, create sustainable jobs well into the future and tackle climate change head on. I’m working every day to find lasting, common sense solutions for the Minnesota farmers who are experiencing severe weather events, the skilled workers who can help attract new businesses to our state and future generations of Americans.

What I’ve Done:
I voted for and helped pass the largest piece of climate change legislation in the history of the country as part of the Inflation Reduction Act.

The bill includes historic investments in clean energy and electric vehicle tax credits.

It funds significant additional research in new methods of fighting climate change, which includes an unprecedented investment in renewable fuels infrastructure to quicken our transition from fossil fuels.

I co-sponsored the bipartisan Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act, which will reduce our nation’s carbon emissions, unleash American technological innovation and create millions of new jobs.

I introduced a bipartisan bill to give local communities the funding they need to address runoff pollution that is enhanced by rapidly melting snow and rain.

My Values
I’m a gun owner and supporter of the Second Amendment, but that support goes hand in hand with doing everything I can to keep our children and our communities safe from gun violence. I was proud to help pass legislation this year to improve gun safety nationwide, but there is more to do to ensure no American has to worry about their loved one being killed in an act of senseless violence.

What I’ve Done
I voted to pass the bipartisan Protecting Our Kids Act, the single biggest gun safety reform in decades to keep weapons of war out of our schools, which was signed into law in 2022.

I voted for universal background checks, including guns sold online and through private sales.

My Values:

I know what it’s like to grow up without health insurance. I still remember the box of bills that sat on our kitchen table when my little sister faced a medical issue. Before I got to Congress, I worked for two health care manufacturing companies and ran the health plan for a major U.S. company, so I’ve seen firsthand for my whole life how difficult it is to navigate our health care system. Since I was elected, I’ve made a lot of enemies in the pharmaceutical companies with my work to lower costs for Americans, and they’ve fought back with smear campaigns every time, but I always say: if I lose my next election because I stood up to Big Pharma on behalf of my constituents, I will wear it as a badge of honor. I’ll keep fighting until every Minnesotan has access to quality, affordable health care.

What I’ve Done:
I wrote the bill – the Affordable Insulin Now Act – to cap insulin co-pays at $35 per month and got it passed through the House.

I voted to allow Medicare to negotiate with drug companies, a policy that will save millions of dollars for everyday Americans.

I successfully led the effort to fix the “Family Glitch” in the Affordable Care Act, which extended coverage to tens of thousands of Minnesotans and millions of Americans who had been paying far too much for health care due to bureaucratic red tape.

I voted to extend the Affordable Care Act premium tax credits through 2025, keeping the cost of health insurance more affordable for more than 5 million Americans.

I introduced a bill that would lower the cost of health insurance in the individual market. And I’ve co-sponsored a bill that would increase competition in the individual marketplace for Minnesota families by establishing a public option health plan to compete with large insurance companies.

I’ve introduced legislation which would increase competition for more affordable generic drugs and co-sponsored a bill which would create emergency insulin supplies and hold big drug companies accountable for jacking up prices.

I’ve worked on legislation that would increase access to mental health services by funding new mental health clinics and expanding telehealth services, especially for rural areas.

I am a co-sponsor on bills to fight the opioid epidemic and hold drug companies accountable.

My Values:

Now more than ever, we need a smart, tough foreign policy agenda that protects the United States and preserves our shared American values of privacy and liberty. Russia’s war in Ukraine exacerbates our need for forward-thinking national security policies, robust domestic energy options and strong support for our military personnel. National security extends to our border as well, and that’s why I’ve supported bipartisan reforms to our immigration system and targeted investments at the border. I will continue to do everything I can in Congress to protect our national interests at home and abroad.

What I’ve Done:
I have voted to equip our military personnel with the 21st century tools they need to defend our nation and eliminate terrorist threats as efficiently and safely as possible.

I unequivocally condemned Vladimir Putin’s actions in Ukraine and will continue to support all efforts — economic, humanitarian and military — to stop this unprovoked violence and needless human suffering.

I have supported securing US energy independence by increasing homegrown renewable fuels production and pursuing an “all of the above” energy approach.

I have pushed for orderly, secure, and humane immigration policies, including cosponsoring the American Dream and Promise Act of 2019, creating a path for permanent residence for individuals within Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals Program (DACA).

I have voted to increase border security funding to ensure an orderly and safe southern border.

My Values:
As a representative for our community, keeping Minnesotans safe is my most important job. That’s why I’m working to ensure that our police officers have all the tools, resources and funding they need to do their important work. I’ve worked to foster strong relationships with law enforcement across the Second District so they know that I am there to support them. I’ll continue working to ensure our public safety organizations work for all Minnesotans.

What I’ve Done:
I’m a co-sponsor of the Invest to Protect Act  to increase funding for small and mid-size police departments and the Pathways to Policing Act to bolster law enforcement recruitment programs.

I helped introduce and get signed into law the Public Safety Officer Support Act to extend death and disability benefits to officers lost as a result of suicide or disabled by PTSD.

Last year, I was the first member of the Minnesota Congressional Delegation to publicly oppose the ballot initiative to eliminate the Minneapolis Police Department.

I’m also working to secure additional and necessary investments in public safety.

Earlier this year, I secured $170,000 for the Dakota County Sheriff’s Office to purchase body cameras for their officers.

And I’m pushing for additional grant funding that will help hire more police officers in our district, and funding to help hire more firefighters and paramedics in the South Metro area.

My Values:
Every American deserves to retire with dignity after a lifetime of hard work, and that’s why I will always oppose legislation that will privatize, jeopardize, or make any cuts to Social Security and Medicare. We must do more to support seniors living on a fixed income and ensure they have access to the support they need – that’s what I’m working to do in Congress.

What I’ve Done:
I voted to finally allow Medicare to negotiate for the best prices on many prescription drugs.

I voted to cap seniors’ drugs costs at $2,000 a year as part of the Inflation Reduction Act.

When the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced a 14.5% increase in Medicare Part B premiums, I led more than 30 colleagues in the House in opposing this move.

My Values:

Every American owes a deep debt to the courageous men and women who serve our country in the Armed Forces. I’m working to get veterans the support they and their families need when they finish their service – that includes finding employment, seeking the mental health care they need and securing the benefits they earned through their service. Our veterans have been there for us, and we can always do more to be there for them in return.

What I’ve Done:
I worked to pass the STRONG Act to expand VA services and help provide our veterans with comprehensive mental health care and suicide prevention program.

I helped pass the Honoring Our PACT Act to expand access to health care for millions of our brave veterans who were exposed to toxic burn pits during their service.

I’m working to secure federal resources to build a Veteran Memorial Greenway in Dakota County that will provide veterans and their families with a new outdoor space to gather, reflect and enjoy.
