Issue Position
Our farmers are committed to their communities and to growing the food necessary to feed and support them.
Issue Position
Betsy DeVos, Elon Musk, and other billionaires who want to take away funding from public education are wrong, and I’ll stand up to them in Congress.
Issue Position
Congress needs to pass the Farm Bill Reauthorization to support farmers and rural communities through investment in infrastructure, workforce training, economic development, and conservation.
Read More Read More Husband, father, and State Senator who has dedicated his career to making life better for families in Southwest Michigan PRIORITIES GETTING THINGS DONE From cracking down on slumlords, to leading disaster relief with the Red Cross, helping attract new jobs and businesses to Michigan and expanding tax relief for working families as State Senator.

We strengthened Michigan’s voting rights and made our districts fair.
Issue Position
Keeping Communities Safe, Supporting Local Law Enforcement Regardless of who you are or where you live, you deserve the right to be safe in your home, your community, and with your neighbors.

In Congress, I’ll continue to be that champion—supporting local law enforcement and gun-violence prevention while promoting responsible gun ownership in our communities.
Issue Position
Protecting democracy and our elections?

Safeguarding Our Constitution and Democracy Now more than ever, it is vital that we stand up for our democratic ideals, our Constitution, and our freedoms.
Issue Position
Bringing Good-Paying Jobs Home The middle class was built in Michigan, and these are roots we must never forget.

We need to keep investing in manufacturing here at home to create good jobs and strengthen our local economies.

The jobs lost from these plants closing are devastating to our communities.

I’ve always worked to bring new businesses and jobs to Michigan—and that’s what I’ll continue to do in Congress.

We expanded the working families tax cut, ended the retirement tax, and right now we’re working to lower energy bills.

Sincerely, Sean McCann Candidate for Michigan’s 4th Congressional District Keeping Costs Low and Tackling the Affordability Crisis With every day that passes, it doesn’t just feel like it’s getting harder to get by; it actually is getting harder for people.

In the Michigan Senate, I’ve taken steps to ease the tax burden for regular folks and try to make life a little more affordable—and I’ll work to do the same for you in Congress.

My number one priority will be lowering everyday costs while protecting and creating good-paying jobs right here in Southwest Michigan.

From utilities to prescription drugs to housing—I’ll make sure Congress gets its act together to make life more affordable for working families.

Fighting for Our Farmers, Producers, and Rural Communities Farmers and rural Michigan are bearing the brunt of the Trump administration’s tariff policy.
Issue Position
Investing in Local Public Education I am a proud product of public schools and the son of a public school teacher.

I believe every child deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential, which is why I strongly support public education and funding our public schools.

In the Michigan Legislature, I helped increase funding to hire more public-school teachers, social workers, and therapists; expand access to free pre-K; and make free school breakfasts and lunch available to all K-12 students.

We need to make sure our schools are providing our children with the skills they need to succeed, whether that means putting them on the path to a four-year degree or providing the technical education to connect them with the skills to work in a 21st-century manufacturing economy.
Issue Position
Addressing Energy Costs The United States can be a leader in the growing domestic energy economy—we should be building energy infrastructure here at home so we don’t have to rely on foreign oil or foreign energy.

And we’ll create good-paying energy jobs while we’re at it.

Solar, wind, and nuclear energy here in Michigan will help us support US energy independence, reduce pollution, and create good-paying jobs in our community.

In the Michigan Senate, I supported funding to help reopen the Palisades Nuclear Plant to help us move towards a clean energy future.

We need solutions that reduce costs for Michigan families—not aging coal and natural gas plants that make energy more expensive for ratepayers.
Issue Position
Trump’s decision to force aging coal plants to stay open, including one in Holland, Michigan, months after it was due to close, is damaging our environment and raising energy costs for people in Michigan and beyond.

Protecting Our Water, Air and Land Here in Michigan, we understand the value of clean water.

No one should have to worry about the safety of the water they drink.

We need to protect the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the beauty of Michigan for all our kids and grandkids.
Issue Position
Freedom of speech is a pillar of our country and the foundation of our electoral process.
Issue Position
I will fight to: Extend the ACA tax credits and reduce the cost of health care.

Strengthen access to care across our district—in both our rural and urban communities.
Issue Position
Skip to content MOVING MICHIGAN FORWARD Facebook X-twitter Instagram Youtube MOVING MICHIGAN FORWARD Meet Sean Sean is running for Congress in MI-04 because he knows Washington needs to focus on what matters to regular people – like protecting health care and Medicaid, not cutting it; getting costs down, not exploding the national debt.

Protecting Our Health Care I hear from too many families who are skipping medical exams and appointments and rationing medicine they need because they simply can’t afford health care.

That’s why one of my proudest votes in the Michigan Legislature was to expand access to Medicaid to over a million people in Michigan, making it possible for more families to have real, quality health care.

But in Washington, Bill Huizenga and Donald Trump’s Medicaid cuts have ripped away health care from hundreds of thousands of people in Michigan, including more than 160,000 people on Medicaid and 14,000 people who rely on the Affordable Care Act right here in Michigan’s 4th Congressional District, while also jeopardizing our rural hospitals.
Issue Position
Securing Our Border, Fixing Our Broken Immigration System Our immigration system is broken.

A world exists where we can have a secure border that stops criminals from entering our country while providing a path for those who follow the rule of law to come here legally.
Issue Position
Backbreaking tariffs are making all aspects of life more expensive—grocery and gas prices are skyrocketing, utility bills are doubling, and housing costs are higher than ever.
Issue Position
In the Michigan Legislature, I voted time and time again to fully fund our police, our firefighters, and programs that invested in mental health resources.
Issue Position
In the Michigan Senate, I was proud to vote to repeal the 1931 abortion ban, ensuring these often difficult decisions are made by families and doctors, not politicians.

Fighting for Reproductive Freedom I believe that the decision to start or grow a family is between a woman, her family, and her doctor—NOT politicians who have no place in the doctor’s office.

And I was proud to serve as a board member of Planned Parenthood of South Central Michigan for several years.
Issue Position
Honoring Our Veterans by Giving Them the Care They Need Our veterans fought for our freedoms, and we owe it to them to be there when they come home.

That means ensuring all veterans receive the Veterans Administration benefits they earned, strengthening pathways for veterans to access job training and quality careers, and protecting and strengthening the VA.

Instead, they’re slashing and burning, attacking the VA, and undermining our commitment to our veterans.
