Dave Min

There are no compromises when it comes to women’s access to abortion and contraception. Dave Min has always been a defender of women’s autonomy and their ability to make their own healthcare decisions. In the aftermath of the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, Senator Dave Min co-sponsored the legislation which codified abortion rights in the California State Constitution. 

Small businesses are the lifeblood of Orange County, and Dave Min has secured funding to help them weather the economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. By passing SB 87, the Small Business Relief Grant Program, Dave Min helped allocate $4.1 billion in relief grants to small businesses suffering due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and he authored SB 666, which seeks to limit or address predatory lending targeted at small businesses. As a State Senator, Dave Min also returned an estimated $10 million back into the pockets of his constituents from the Employment Development Department of California.

Dave Min understands that public education levels the playing field. Regardless of their background, California students should be provided with every opportunity to succeed, and that starts with good schooling from a young age. Dave is endorsed by the California Federation of Teachers. Serving on the Senate Committee on Budget, Subcommittee #1 on Education, State Senator Dave Min invested heavily in California’s public schools, community colleges and universities. He ensured a safe and timely reopening of schools after the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic were waning, and helped champion innovative programs to combat pandemic learning loss.

Dave Min is a staunch and vocal advocate for environmental protections. He currently serves as Chair of the Senate Natural Resources and Water Committee, and was entrusted by his colleagues to serve on the Select Committee on Infrastructure Streamlining and Workforce Equity, which is responsible for negotiating the balance between fast-tracking green infrastructure and clean energy projects with the preservation of biodiversity and other environmental considerations. As State Senator, Dave Min has introduced legislation to ban offshore drilling in state waters and passed several bills related to the decarbonization of transportation and household appliances. The Senator has also authored legislation to preserve and expand our open spaces and coastal waters to meet the “30 by 30” goals that leading scientists have said are necessary to ensure we prevent mass extinction.

Dave Min is committed to building a California where families live free of the constant threat of gun violence. As a State Senator, Dave Min introduced legislation that banned gun shows at the Orange County Fairgrounds, and wrote the bill that would ultimately end the sale of guns on all state-owned property in California.

Endorsed by the Los Angeles Police Protective League (LAPPL), Dave Min has fought for funding to keep Orange County families safe. State Senator Dave Min was instrumental in passing legislation that seeks to study and prevent harassment on public transportation. This year, Senator Min successfully procured funding in the state budget for Irvine Police Department vehicles.
