Issue Position

Delivering Relief Throughout This Pandemic

Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Congresswoman Torres has worked to ensure the needs of Inland Empire families are prioritized in federal stimulus packages. She championed key food assistance, rent relief, unemployment and small business assistance, and direct payment provisions in the CARES Act and American Rescue Plan. She continues to collaborate with the Biden-Harris administration to help our community recover from this once-in-a-generation public health crisis.

To date, Congresswoman Torres has secured over $3 billion in COVID-19 relief for the Inland Empire.

Issue Position

Our students are the leaders of tomorrow, and Congresswoman Torres is working in Congress to ensure they have the tools they need to succeed from preschool to college. She recognizes that success in school depends on access to food, housing, and support to allow students to solely focus on their education. That’s why she introduced the BASIC Act in Congress to fund the basic needs of our local college students and delivered millions in COVID-19 relief funding for school districts, colleges, and universities.

The scientists, teachers, lawyers, business leaders, and professionals of tomorrow are right here in our community. Congresswoman Torres is committed to breaking down the barriers to access that prevent our students from achieving their full potential.

Issue Position

Combating the Climate Crisis

The Inland Empire has some of the poorest air quality levels in the country, and the health of our community depends on action from our government. Congresswoman Torres is committed to tackling the climate crisis head-on with commonsense and progressive solutions to ensure clean air to breathe, quality water to drink, and a sustainable future for our future generations.

In Congress, she is focused on improving the accessibility and affordability of public transit, modernizing our energy systems, and holding polluters accountable for their impact on our planet.

Issue Position
Congresswoman Torres strongly believes that health care is a human right. The United States is one of the wealthiest countries in the world, and no one should go without affordable and comprehensive health insurance. During her tenure in Congress, she has fought to strengthen the Affordable Care Act, expand community health centers in the Inland Empire, and eliminate the barriers preventing Americans from accessing the care they deserve.
Issue Position

Building a Compassionate Immigration System

Congresswoman Torres recognizes the essential need to address the root causes of migration forcing so many from Latin America to flee violence and lack of opportunity in their home countries. As Co-Chair of the Congressional Central America Caucus and New Americans Caucus, she is focused on reforming our immigration system to be more compassionate, flexible, and responsive to the needs of those who simply want to pursue the American Dream. She understands that we can secure our border and deliver the empathy and humanity that so many of our southern neighbors need right now.

Issue Position
When women get ahead, America thrives. As the only woman of Central American descent in Congress, Congresswoman Torres champions legislative solutions to make equal pay for equal work a reality and protect a woman’s right to her own reproductive health care. Currently, she is focused on lowering the cost of child care, empowering women in the workplace, and making our government look like those it represents.
Issue Position

Serving Our Nation’s Veterans

As the mother of an Air Force veteran, Congresswoman Torres’ priority in Congress is serving those who so courageously served us. From assisting our local veterans receive the benefits they’re owed to expanding their access to education and health care, she is dedicated to improving available resources for current and former servicemembers.
