County government transparency
Candidates for the Boone, Kenton and Campbell county commissions agree their county governments need a better system of transparency, including posting what the county will vote on online and centralizing information for residents. The issue has gained urgency across Northern Kentucky as a code-of-ethics overhaul in Kenton County heightened concerns about openness in county government.

This is part of a bigger issue that we need to learn new ways to communicate with the public... we need to actually post what the county is going to be voting on on the website that we need to actually centralize information.
Positions on this issue ยท liberal → conservative
- Mandate that all county votes, contracts and agendas be posted online well in advance, with regular public forums.
- Centralize county information on a single website with plain-language summaries before each vote.
- Make practical improvements like better websites and newsletters without imposing new mandates.
- Keep transparency informal and minimal; elected officials were chosen to act without extra process.
- Rely on local media and citizen watchdogs rather than county-funded transparency programs.
